CHA Agrees That City Could Develop Entire East Brainerd School Site


Chattanooga Housing Authority officials have agreed that the city of Chattanooga could develop the entire 9.7 acres at the East Brainerd Elementary School site, the mayor's office said.

Under a three-way swap, the CHA is to end up with Dogwood Manor and the city with the school site on East Brainerd Road. The county schools get the Poss Homes site by Howard School and cash.

However, several county school members said they were caught offguard by the deal and are opposed to it.

CHA had made plans to build a facility for the elderly disabled on about three acres of the site.
